
Composer
Niko Yin, born in 2002 in Xuancheng, China, began playing the piano at the age of five. In 2014, she entered the Secondary School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied composition with Qiang Weihao and Gao Hong. In 2015, she won fourth prize at the Los Angeles International Youth Piano Competition, and in 2017 she received first prize at the Singapore International Youth Piano Competition. Since 2021, she has been studying composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Xiaoyong Chen and Gordon Kampe, completing her Bachelor’s degree there in 2025. In October 2025, she continued her Master’s studies in composition at the same institution with Gordon Kampe.

Her compositional interests are primarily focused on opera and theatre, alongside chamber music works. She is also actively engaged in cross-media collaborations, such as combining experimental film with live music, seeking to expand musical expression and deepen connections with audiences through diverse artistic forms.
